Final Reflection

Juan Cabrera
El Paso Independent School District Superintendent
Dear Superintendent Cabrera:
It is with great interest that I am applying for a teaching position within the district. The position will allow me to put into practice all I have learned throughout my four years of college earning my bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies at the University of Texas at El Paso.
If given the opportunity I will utilize all I have learned in my practice in the district classrooms to help students thrive in their respective grade levels. I am able to speak, read and write English and Spanish which will allow me to help English language learners in their learning journey since I was an English language learner myself. Going through that experience qualifies me to understand the students better through their experience and help them learn content material while learning the language.
I am strongly attracted to this position since it will allow me to work in an environment I have been practicing and learning on for the past four years. The position will allow me to put into differentiated instruction into practice, by helping students represent information to support their understanding. Also by using action and expression in my classroom by giving my students the opportunity to express themselves so they can feel comfortable and share all their questions with myself and the class. Engagement is also an enormous part of education, because students need to be motivated by the teacher to learn in different ways.
The position would also allow me to put into practice everything I have learned about classroom management through my experience in special education classrooms and all-inclusive classrooms. All of this would help me create a class environment that will encourage learning and good behavior through activities that will allow kindergarten and first grade students to have fun while learning.
My most recent experience was at Austin High School as a volunteer in the special education classroom where I was able to work first hand with students and put everything I learned in the classroom into practice. By going through this experience I was able to learn how every student learns differently and how to work with different types of disabilities in the classroom to help them thrive in their learning. I also learned new ways of communication, every student had different ways to communicate and I had to learn new ways that will help me in my future classroom if the opportunity is given.
Sincerely
Jazmin Ramirez
